Innovation Hub Helps Design the Future of Higher Education

In partnership with the Provost’s Office, the Innovation Hub is engaged in FSU’s Vision 2030 initiative intended to map FSU’s advancement as a top tier university across several metrics. FSU’s School of Information Professor, Paul Marty, and Innovation Hub Founding Director, Ken Baldauf have been tasked with analyzing Academic Innovation at FSU and providing faculty-driven recommendations on how FSU can support its faculty and students to be even more innovative.

One area of interest is in anticipating and responding in advance to emerging technologies. To this end, Dr. Marty has led faculty workshops on Generative AI over the course of the Spring Semester. These evolved into Faculty Innovators Coffee Chats taking place weekly at the Innovation Hub.

The two have plans for many more events over the 2024-25 academic year that provide opportunities for faculty to gather informally to discuss emerging technologies and teaching methods. Look for a formal schedule to be released prior to the Fall semester!

Ken Baldauf

An optimist in the age of “great acceleration,” I am an educator, innovator, author, technologist, futurist, and musician. I believe in nurturing the best aspects of humanity - love, empathy, passion, curiosity and creativity. Since 1996, it has been my pleasure and privileged to teach tens of thousands of students at FSU in courses focusing on technology and design. I have authored several textbooks and designed an online learning framework for online teaching and learning to better meet the needs of GenZ. I am the Founder and Director of the Innovation Hub at Florida State University where I teach Design Thinking and connect students with opportunities for innovation.
